Week 1 - Introduction
In this module we will examine design fundamentals that are the essential building blocks for dementia design, it is impossible to learn the application of colour without learning the significance of nature, culture, location and identity.

Week 2 - Colour Principles
Learn how to experience colour as a phenomena and develop a better understanding of why colour is subjective. Understand the psychology of colour and how colour and emotions are linked. Recognise the tangible advantages of colour in furnishings that enhance wellbeing.

Week 3 - Lighting Interventions
Explore why natural light is the best light of all for mental health, physical health and healthy vision. Explore the benefits of natural light and practicalities of artificial light within the Built Environment. Discover Bio-Dynamic Lighting and the research benefits towards a better quality of life for residents.

Week 4 - Navigation and signage
Learn the difference between signage and wayfinding including the necessity of triggers and the importance of colour. Embrace new ways for defining spaces and how new materials and technologies can provide innovative solutions in way-finding.

Week 5 - Emerging technologies
Learn how digital technologies will frame future dementia design. Explore assistive technologies that already exist and the innovation towards smart homes.

Week 6 - Communication to staff
In this module, learn to create awareness amongst staff, encourage and promote enabling design. It is important that all staff working within a care facility understand why the building has been designed to add value and increase quality of life.
